Global platform inspires positive change
World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated annually on 5 June and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment. Designated by the United Nations, WED is a global platform for inspiring positive change.
Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), WED has been held annually on 5 June since 1973. It is the largest global platform for raising awareness on environmental issues and encouraging action to protect the planet.
This year's theme, "Only One Earth," focuses on the urgent need to restore damaged ecosystems and promote sustainable consumption and production patterns. Individuals, organizations, and governments around the world are encouraged to participate in WED activities and events.
