Massive Six-Year, $65 Million Contract on the Table
Auburn University is reportedly in talks to hire Hugh Freeze as its next head football coach. According to ESPN, the two sides are close to agreeing on a six-year contract worth an average of $65 million per year.
Freezes current contract with Liberty University has a Power Five-friendly buyout, making the move to Auburn a more feasible option. The buyout reportedly stands at $40 million, which would be covered by Auburn.
Liberty and Freeze have reportedly agreed on a new contract that would pay him an average of over $4 million per year. However, the buyout clause in his Liberty contract could allow Auburn to acquire his services for a substantial fee.
