Anthony Edwards Signs Contract Extension with Minnesota Timberwolves
Five-Year, $204.45 Million Deal
All-Star Guard Secures Long-Term Future with Team
Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves' All-Star guard, has agreed to a five-year, $204.45 million contract extension with the team. The deal includes $204.45 million guaranteed and will keep Edwards in Minnesota through the 2027-28 season. The contract takes effect in the 2024-25 season, when Edwards' current four-year, $44.2 million rookie contract expires.
The extension is the maximum rookie-scale contract that Edwards is eligible for after making his first All-Star team in the 2022-23 season. At 26.09% more than his 2022-23 salary of $10.73 million, Edwards has secured a significant pay increase.
The Timberwolves are thrilled to have secured Edwards' services for the long term. The 21-year-old guard has emerged as one of the most promising young players in the NBA, averaging 24.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game last season.
Edwards' extension is a sign of the Timberwolves' commitment to building a competitive team around their young core. The team also recently signed center Karl-Anthony Towns to a four-year, $224 million supermax extension.
