Types of Internal Combustion Engines

Internal combustion engines are classified into two main types based on the ignition method:

  • Spark-ignition engine: Uses a spark plug to ignite the fuel-air mixture inside the cylinder.
  • Compression-ignition engine: Relies on the high compression of the fuel-air mixture to generate sufficient heat for ignition.
